Considerations When Getting Dental Implants

Teeth can be lost and when that happens you will want to do something about it for your longterm health. Some are lost due to failure to take proper care, some lose teeth due to accidents, some lose them for various other reasons, but when it happens, it leaves an unsightly gap in your smile.

If you have that kind of a gap in your teeth, you probably want to do something about it, to fix the smile and to make sure that you can show it to the entire world. You have a few options to do this, thankfully. Depending on how many teeth are missing, you can go with dentures, which are fake teeth that you hold in place with an adhesive. You can go with a bridge, which is basically a form of denture for use in areas that are only missing a tooth or two. Or you can go with a dental implant.

What Is A Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a fake tooth that can be put into the mouth where a real tooth once was. The fake tooth usually consists of a titanium screw, on the end of which rests a tooth made out of synthetic materials.

The installation of the tooth is a simple process. You remove the old tooth, or the debris of the old tooth (if any are left behind), and then you drill a hole in the jawbone, into which you place the screw. Then you take, for the next six months or so, a medication that will assist your body in healing the jaw and closing up around the screw and the fake tooth, ensuring that it will be in place for a long time to come.

One of the great benefits that you get from a dental implant is the fact that it will not only replace a missing or damaged tooth, but it will look like that tooth. If you smoke, you can yellow it. If you are a coffee drinker, it’ll stain the tooth. The new false tooth will act just like a real tooth, will look like one, and can even, over time, receive damage like a real tooth if not properly taken care of.

Options For Dental Implants In Denver

If you want a dental implant, rather than a set of dentures or something similar, then you are going to need to see a dentist that performs such cosmetic work. For some people, a dental implant may be outside of their price range (remember, it is a very complicated procedure).

However, most dental offices are able to offer loans through various organizations, or payment plans, to make sure that you can get the dental work that you want or need, and pay for it as you can afford it, and that will make it much more accessible for anyone with a steady work history and decent credit.
